Muladhara chakra - your body, home, and tribe

Muladhara chakra is the energy centre that is located at the base of the spine, it translates as “root support” from Sanskrit. In this energy database, we store info in regards to our body, health, home, and our tribe.

What is a healthy food, what is a beautiful body, what is home?

Do I belong to my tribe (be it family, friends, colleagues, classmates)? Do I feel safe and accepted in my body, home, and community?

On a physical level, this chakra is related to feet, legs, pelvic floor, and tailbone.

Do you carry any tension in those areas? Do you feel ungrounded? Do you struggle with eating healthy even though you know what you should stay away from and what is good for you?

In Emotional Release Course, we work with this chakra by connecting to the body; we sense, tune in, feel, and savour everything that arises during the session.

I carefully choose poses that will accommodate this process of connecting to our physical shell, the vessel of our spirit.

A very simple way of working with this chakra would be to use chairs less and sit more on the floor. Try watching TV or folding your laundry while sitting crossed legged.

Or after a meal journal about it:

  • straight after the meal - how do you feel? Was this meal satisfying and nourishing? Do you feel energised and light, or on the contrary heavy and dull? How is your stomach doing - is this meal easy to digest?

  • the next day - how is your complexion, eyes and bowel movement? Can you say that the meal you ate was great for your bowels and digestion?

Remember that food is not just an energy source. It is rather a daily instruction to your body: to either live a long and happy life or not! It’s your DNA fuel, you program your body’s health with it. And it is a fun and interesting journey, to find the best food that works for you!
